GOODWILL STORE: VISUAL MERCHANDISER

Working on different stores around Manhattan, each windows of the Goodwill Store were designed to create an idea where all the merchandises inside the stores are seen from the window itself (Clothes, Accessories, Housewares, Furniture pieces, etc.).

 SINGLE BEDROOM PROJECT

The project took time at the start of Mark’s last semester in UST, back in A.Y. 2014-2015. He designed a single bedroom inside a condominium unit of his classmate and friend, Hershey Rose D. Chua. Characterized by being quirky and feminine, Hershey suggested her bedroom to be conceptualized by feminine strokes and playful patterns.  In addition, she wants to welcome the user of the space to have a taste and warm hug of her character by the use of soft, neutral, and pastel color palette. Lastly, the room has to fill in 4 functions: sleeping, dressing, working, and an area for storage. With a budget of almost 70,000 php, Mark established an idea of mixing up old and new furniture & furnishings to save up his client’s expenses. The only bought furniture was the daybed from Ikea. Hanging cabinets and ledges were constructed. From the client’s hometown in Isabela, an old dining chair was up-cycled by repainting the body and re-upholstering the seat. It then became a working and/or a dressing chair. The dresser is refurbished, extablishing a cleaner white paint gloss finish and new steel handles.

TANGLAW: A FLICKER OF HOPE TO LIGHT UP CHRISTMAS

Every year, the University of Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts and Design (UST-CFAD) in interior design department conducts a program to showcase the student's talent and creativity through exhibitions of designs. The annual exhibit became an  event for a cause. Away from the usual exhibitions of different trends and styles of interior design, the junior students made an exhibit of Christmas lanterns which are sold to help the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

Mark’s contribution was the production management of the facade design. After the design was chosen, Mark and his team members managed in sourcing and monitoring the facade arc construction.

FURNITURE DESIGN

The designs of each lounge chairs were based from Harry Bertoia's Diamond Chair. Inspired by neutral and cool colors, each chairs are conceptualized by bold and modern ideas.

HEIMA HOME & LIFESTYLE INTERNSHIP: VISUAL MERCHANDISING

With the help of my co-interns, I was able to make a new set-up for Heima store (LRI Branch) showroom back in April of 2013. Since the store is characterized by quirky and playful style, the fixtures and displays are placed in such a way that there are different settings in each corner, giving life to the store by track lights and playful colors.

THESIS PROJECT

Entitled "Design Response to Health and Healing Guided by Goethe's Theory of Colors in a Medical Center", the designer conceptualize color as his main theory to create a design proposal for the Pamana Medical Center located in Calamba, Laguna. The concept made use of Johan Wolfgang Van Goethe's theory of colors. Each Area consists of main colors that are used to create healing effect. In addition, showcasing anything about Calamba Laguna tourism was used to personalize and maximize the design allowed to be applied in the four selected areas of the hospital.

MOOD BOARDS

Having different ideas randomly thought during his leisure times, Mark made up mood boards of different rooms resulting to a patchwork of different styles uniting as one new space.
